What is The McKenzie Method?
The McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® is an internationally acclaimed and reliable method of assessing and treating all musculoskeletal dysfunctions including the spine and extremities. Developed by Robin McKenzie in the 1950s, this well-research, exercise based approach to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment uses a comprehensive and clinically reasoned evaluation of patients without the use of diagnostic imaging.
The treatment principles of the McKenzie Method® promote the body’s natural ability to repair itself. Patients are taught the principles and are given a home exercise program that empowers them to be in control of their own symptom management.
This approach encourages patients to participate actively in their care with our physical therapists.
